Lumal o’ anemun te avelov anta snamajesoj ukun lok’el te atojol,

Pochan jve’eletik stakijesik ach’ul sat,
smalbik ya’lel sat vinajel,
anta chtakij batel avuk’umaltak.

Li sk’uxul avokole s-ap’es batel atakopal xchi’uk jlametel,
sbek’ jsate x-ok’olet chok’ita ach’anal vokol.

Exiled

I dwell on your face but am separated from you, land of water,
expanding drops of evil drive me from you.

Microscopic men burn your face,
empty the sky of its tears,
and torture your rivers.

Pain cracks your skin and my tranquility,
my eyes weep for your silent suffering.

Assassins trap you in a ceaseless grinding,
and you fall through my life, empty.
